General Employment

For a Cyprus company, whose shareholders are European citizens, to employ non-European nationals, the procedure requires the involvement of the Civil Registry and Migration Department (CRMD) in cooperation with the District Labour Office. Applications of this nature are not straight forward and vary from case to case. The major consideration for the District Labour Office to approve such an application, at first instance, is to determine whether the prospective employee is the only possible candidate for the company and no other European citizen may be employed in that position. For this reason, part of the procedure is for the company to submit a vacancy form and go through the European Job Mobility portal. Most applications may take up to 6 months to be finalised.
