New Medical Requirements for Immigration Permit Applications - Effective 1 September 2026
What is changing?
With effect from 1 September 2026, all applicants – and their dependants – must include certified medical examination results as part of their application file. The required tests are:
- Blood tests confirming the absence of Hepatitis B
- Blood tests confirming the absence of Hepatitis C
- Blood tests confirming the absence of HIV
- Blood tests confirming the absence of Syphilis
- Chest X-ray confirming the absence of active Tuberculosis (TB)
Who is exempt?
Applicants who already hold a valid temporary residence permit in Cyprus and have previously submitted the required medical examinations are generally exempt from resubmitting them, provided the results are already on file with the Department.
What should you do now?
If you are planning to apply for permanent residency in Cyprus – whether for yourself or your family – we recommend arranging the required medical examinations in advance of your application to avoid unnecessary delays in processing.
Medical appointments, particularly for a full panel of tests, can take time to arrange and results to be certified. Early preparation is strongly advisable.
