Categories of Persons and Countries Whose Nationals Do Not Require a Visa to Enter the Republic of Cyprus

Categories of persons exempt from visa requirements

  • Holders of diplomatic passports issued by Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Qatar.
  • Holders of diplomatic and service passports issued by Armenia, China, Costa Rica, Georgia, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Seychelles, and Ukraine.
  • Holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports issued by Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Holders of diplomatic, official, and service passports issued by Colombia, Cuba, India, Mexico, Panama, the Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, Tonga, Palau, Saint Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Vanuatu, Samoa, and Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Holders of diplomatic or official passports issued by Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Pakistan, and Bahrain.
  • Holders of biometric passports issued by Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Moldova.

Crew members and international organization staff

  • Flight crew members in possession of a Flight Crew Member’s License or a Crew Member Certificate issued under the Chicago Convention.
  • Flight crew and attendants operating emergency or rescue flights, as well as other assistants in disaster or accident situations.
  • Civilian crew members of ships.
  • Holders of a United Nations laissez-passer.
  • Holders of a Council of Europe laissez-passer.

Holders of schengen, bulgarian, croatian, or romanian visas/permits

Nationals who hold a valid double or multiple-entry Schengen visa or a Bulgarian, Croatian, or Romanian national visa, as well as residence permits issued by Schengen Member States, Bulgaria, Croatia, or Romania, are not required to obtain a short-stay visa for Cyprus. This exemption applies for stays not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.

Note

This provision does not apply to citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan, who must follow the standard visa procedure.

This measure is in accordance with Decision No. 565/2014/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 2014, introducing a simplified regime for the control of persons at the external borders of Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania.

Holders of refugee or stateless person travel documents

  • Recognised refugees under the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, whose travel documents are issued by a Schengen Member State or a state listed in Annex II of Council Regulation 539/2001, do not require a visa to enter Cyprus.
  • Stateless persons holding travel documents issued under the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons, issued by a Schengen Member State, and residing in that state, are also exempt from visa requirements.

Persons holding permits sssued by the Republic of Cyprus

  • Individuals holding a work permit or entry permit issued by the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
  • Individuals holding a permanent or temporary residence permit issued by the same authority.

Citizens of the European Union and EEA

Citizens of all EU Member States, as well as Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, may enter Cyprus without a visa. They may also enter using their national identity card, provided it bears a photograph of the holder.

The following countries’ nationals are exempt from visa requirements for short stays (up to 90 days) provided they are bona fide visitors:

  • TAIWAN
  • KOSOVO*
