Eligibility

Adults, of full legal capacity, born on or after 16 August 1960, may apply if:

Neither of their parents was a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus at the time of their birth, but one of the parents would be entitled to acquire Cypriot citizenship by registration due to Cypriot origin, and they descend from a person of Cypriot origin who:

  • Became a British citizen based on the Annexation of Cyprus Orders from 1914 to 1943, or
  • Was born in Cyprus between 5 November 1914 and 16 August 1960, when their parents habitually resided in Cyprus.

Application Process

Submit the application in two copies with the supporting documents to the District Office.

The application must be signed by the applicant and a registrar of the Cypriot court.

After acquiring Cypriot citizenship, the applicant may submit a request for an identity card and passport.

Supporting documents:

Marriage certificate of the parents.

Passport of the applicant and their parents.

Birth certificate of the applicant.

Registration certificate of the Cypriot parent.
